The New Haven Pop Warner Youth football program shall enable our children in low to moderate income ranges to develop teamwork with one another as well as skills to advance to the high school level

The program will allow our children to compete in a statewide program, which is very competitive and structured. With instruction from positive role models, who will teach team building, self-motivation, and promoting family bonding. This will be accomplished through team practice, games, and counseling with peers and adults.

The majority of the population served is low and very low-income households.  Approximately 30 % are composed of moderate-income
families.  Approximately 200 families are benefited from this program, totaling around 450 persons. This is mainly because of the family involvement in the program and bonding process that goes on during the course of the season.

Due to the success of the program in the past years and present.  We are experiencing a great deal of children that would like to join the program.  Therefore we have expanded yearly from, three teams in 1996 to six teams in 2001, and expect to grow again this year.

The program will be advertised through the local newspaper, park and rec., and local access channels. Our coaches are always involved in the school system. Announcements will be made during the school year and parents will have a chance to speak with coaches on prescribed dates during the year.

We as a group constantly ask our children for input in order to make the program better. Parents are also asked to monitor the program and report to the league officials if there is something that they would like to see differently.

The program will not run without the participation of parents. They are needed to assist as team parents, monitors, game day officials, and board member. This allows the parent to make a physical contribution to their child’s progression.

The program serves all areas of the City and is based at Bowen Field.  To date we have not made contact with the committee, but we expect to have full endorsement by late January.

The program works with Public school, Park and rec, P.A.L., and local community centers to attract and motivate children into the program
The program work on a division, league, regional, and national championship level. These are goals set by the program, and to date we have been able to accomplish at least three of them. This past year the program sent all of its teams to the league championship.
There has been a long record of success for the program. The benefits are in the results of the local high school football programs. To include but not limited to a State Championship. Greater is the number of college students developing in our community.

New Haven Pop Warner Football has been in this city for the past twenty  years. In that time we have been able to provide the young people, ages seven to fifteen, the opportunity to compete in a statewide youth football league, which can lead to national levels.

The league is broken down into six different age (7 to 15 years old) and weight classes in order to keep the children in their competitive range. All equipment and uniforms will be provided for their use during the season.

There are seventeen towns throughout the state involved in this program, making this program one of the most competitive youth programs in the state. All children throughout the city are welcome to participate. The requirements are each child must have a completed application as well as the $150.00 registration fee, original birth certificate, doctors’ certificate dated after January 1,of the current year, and their report card.

New players shall be able to register during the last week of July from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bowen field.

Returning players shall be contacted for early registration in the month of June.
